Born Anthony Michael Reynolds to Michael and Marie Reynolds in New York, Tony was a bright boy. he had a mind for repair even at a young age, going so far as to aide his father and grandfather in the more menial tasks in their repair shop. He did well in school as a child, passing most of his tests with good marks. In general, Tony led a fairly normal life. He flirted with girls, tried to figure out his life, wanted to get a career in something...it was good.

And then he got drafted. Enlisted in the marines, Tony left his family behind "for the greater good". He was a decent soldier but a bit mouthy. He learned his place quickly, figuring out what he could and could not get away with--which wasn't a whole lot. During training, because of his above average abilities and test scores, Tony was enlisted in the Spartan program, a cheaper offshoot of the original project with the goal of more soldiers in less time in mind. The new company was a measure weaker than their SPARTAN-II brethren but still combat effective. Tony trained. He trained and let them shoot him up with anything they wanted to be a better soldier. A super soldier bent on protecting humanity--which he subsequently didn't feel like he was a part of by the end--from the Covenant, just like the rest.

Tony lost his family in the 2552 Covenant attack of Earth, alienating him that much further from his humanity without those tethers. He kept his sense of humor about him as a coping mechanism but it still bothers him that so many civilians have had to die. He seems to have stopped caring about soldiers unless he really needs to be caring about his and their welfare. "We were made to die," he'd say, laughing. He's not happy with his life but he wants to be--he wants to try. He wants to do his part to defeat the Covenant.

What have I done to be so afraid;

Tony has a way of letting his mouth get the better of him at the worst possible moment. He'll stand up if he thinks he has a chance to win but his odds calculating could use some brushing up. Tony's wound up on the wrong side of a gun more than a few times because he just can't shut his mouth.

Generally, Tony is a civil guy. He doesn't go around picking fights but his brand of humor tends to be a bit dark and very self depreciating. He's down on himself and he's down on the navy as a whole for seemingly being unable to deal with the imminent threat of the Covenant. He likes to get drinks "with the boys" but normal social interaction rather baffles him. He never was slick as a kid and going through the Spartan program didn't help a bit.
